Individuals seeking comprehensive mental health and dual diagnosis outpatient treatment services may elect to participate in a virtual intensive outpatient program (IOP) as an alternative to in-person treatment. Virtual treatment and therapy offers the same level of excellence as in-person outpatient treatment, but in a convenient, flexible online format.

Virtual Intensive Outpatient Programs

Telemedicine has grown exponentially over the past few years as patients became increasingly familiar with participating in virtual therapy. Patients soon realized that online mental healthcare provided the same effective results they would experience from an in-person treatment setting.

Virtual IOP services include:

Group therapy sessions
As with in-person outpatient treatment, the bulk of the IOP curriculum involves participation in group therapy sessions. The sessions are coordinated to include a small group of individuals who are diagnosed with a similar condition. A licensed therapist provides topics of discussion for the group and facilitates the conversation.
Individual psychotherapy sessions
By working one-on-one with a licensed therapist, weekly individual therapy sessions guide the patient toward important new insights. Utilizing evidence-based therapies, the therapist assists the patient in making meaningful changes in thoughts and behaviors that will improve functioning and quality of life.
Family therapy
A healthy family dynamic plays an important role in long-term treatment success, which is why family therapy is incorporated into the virtual IOP.

Levels of Care

Virtual outpatient treatment services include two levels of care:

IOP
The intensive outpatient program requires 9-12 hours of participation in treatment activities per week. For example, the patient may participate in three 3-hour modules per week of group virtual therapy, plus one individual therapy session and/or one family therapy session.
PHP
The partial hospitalization program is the highest level of outpatient care and requires 25-30 hours of programming, such as five 5-hour modules or six 5-hour modules per week.

Virtual Dual Diagnosis Treatment
