ELEVATION NON 12 STEP TREATMENT CENTERS MALIBU
Utilizing proven therapies and science-based approaches to recovery
NON 12 STEP ADDICTION TREATMENT AT ELEVATION
Although twelve step programs have helped and continue to help many people, many people find a healthy recovery from drug addiction at treatment centers offering alternative recovery methods. Here at Elevation Behavioral Health, we do our best to meet the needs of everyone who stays with us. For some, twelve step participation is helpful in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. For others, a holistic treatment center and program may be more beneficial.
As a leader in holistic care for addiction and mental health disorders, we encourage those who stay with us to investigate their own needs, what they find useful in their recovery from substance abuse, and how we can work together to build a foundation for lifelong recovery. We offer many different alternatives to 12 step programs, making sure everyone can find what works for their individual situation and build a life without drugs, alcohol, and other harmful behaviors.
How does non 12 step treatment differ from 12 step treatment?
Although Elevation Behavioral Health does offer twelve step programming as part of our treatment, we offer a unique program not based strictly on twelve step principles. Non 12 step addiction treatment programs like ours are based on proven methods of treatment for alcoholism, addiction, and mental health disorders.
There are many twelve step programs, and they’re all based on the same twelve steps and program. There are millions of people who have found recovery in the rooms of Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, and other twelve-step groups, but the treatment model has a few flaws. It hasn’t been updated in over 75 years, and the meetings are peer-led.
Elevation Behavioral Health offers evidence-based therapies from trained professionals to help you find a lasting recovery from your addiction. From group and individual therapy to holistic options like meditation and yoga, our addiction treatment model offers an approach to recovery that is backed by the latest scientific findings.
Elevation Behavioral Health is proud to offer you many alternatives to 12 step programs when you are in our care. Our unique treatment programs include a variety of offerings ranging from therapeutic modalities to holistic addiction treatment methods. Our hope is that our alternative treatment programs can help you find a lasting recovery that works for you, offering new ways for you to build a life of lasting sobriety and recovery. We know that there isn’t one method that works for absolutely everybody, and we make it a priority to provide many different forms of therapy, process groups, and treatment models. At our non we step rehab facility in Malibu, you may benefit from our diverse offerings which include:

Non 12 Step Treatment Components
Being a non 12 step treatment facility means we offer methods of addiction treatment that you may not find at other addiction treatment centers. Elevation Behavioral Health utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, meditation, yoga, health and nutrition counseling, and true dual-diagnosis treatment.
Our staff have years of experience working in the addiction field and helping groups and individuals get sober. Our therapists, counselors, psychiatrists, and doctors are up to date on the latest in addiction treatment modalities, and are continually learning about the newest methods of substance abuse treatment. You’ll find a team of caring, intelligent, and inspiring during your stay with us.
Personalized Addiction Treatment
Located in the hills of Malibu, California, we take pride in offering each one of our clients personalized care for their addiction. Because we are so small, we are able to offer personalized one-on-one care to every member of the Elevation community. In our addiction treatment programs, each individual has the opportunity to meet with their therapist regularly.
This small community allows everyone the chance to feel safe and cared for. With a strong emphasis on individualized care, Elevation strives to truly know every person who spends time with us. We’ve found that by providing a more intimate experience than is custom in the treatment industry, our staff can be present with our residents. Because of this, the community is safe and helps make sure everyone is cared for and heard.
Alternate Recovery Programs
As a top-tier treatment facility specializing in dual diagnosis treatment, we do our best to provide a range of options for our residents. We help our residents investigate support groups that are not affiliated with twelve-step programs, such as Refuge Recovery, SMART, and Celebrate. We also offer proven methods of non twelve-step treatment such as cognitive behavioral therapy, which have been found to be effective in treating addictions according to the National Institute of Health. Elevation is a place founded on evidence-based treatment techniques, and we utilize proven and effective methods of treating addiction. We know there is not one single answer for everyone. With our varying rehab modalities, we find a path to recovery, sobriety, and health together with each resident that stays with us.
SMART Recovery is an alternative to twelve step recovery that has become increasingly popular since its inception in the early 1990’s. SMART meetings may be found across the world, and prides itself in continuing to adapt its program as our scientific understanding of addiction progresses. Like any recovery program, some people love SMART while others do not connect.
Celebrate Recovery is an alternative program that is actually based off the twelve steps. Celebrate was founded in the early 90’s by a group of people who wanted to create a program more deeply rooted in Christianity and faith. Many people who come to recovery with a faith find that Celebrate Recovery offers them the community, understanding of addiction, and help that they need.
Refuge Recovery is a Buddhist path to recovering from addiction that began a few years ago. Its founders took their decades of recovery in twelve-step groups and adapted the principles to form this program based on the principles of mindfulness, compassion, and the Buddha’s teachings. You don’t need to be “Buddhist” to benefit from Refuge Recovery, as the meetings are offered as an accessible way to investigate meditation and mindfulness in recovery. Refuge meetings are not separated, so meetings may include those recovering from drug or alcohol addiction, process addictions, and/or mental health disorders.
Secular Organizations for Sobriety
Secular Organizations for Sobriety is a recovery program founded in 1985 with the idea of offering an alternative to the higher power-based recovery programs found in twelve-step. There are meetings across the United States offering a support group, relapse prevention methods, and a deepening of our understanding of the process of addiction in the brain and body.
Therapy and Clinical Care
Many people get sober with the help of professional clinicians. Although guidelines for the treatment of addiction often include some long-term maintenance or care program, this doesn’t have to be a religious or spiritual group. There are many groups run by therapists which include relapse prevention, building coping mechanisms, and finding support. People also work one-on-one with their therapist to help deal with adversity in recovery, build a new life, and stay sober.
There are many holistic recovery options that can help in addition to or as an alternative to 12 step recovery. These may include some offerings like mindfulness meditation, yoga, acupuncture, nutritional counseling, exercise, and more. These treatment methods have been found to be helpful in recovering from drug addiction, and an increasing number of treatment centers are offering more holistic options.
